In our first week we'll get familiar with the software and learn how to use it for importing assets. This includes animatics, sound and characters. You'll find out how to auto export from Storyboard Pro, set up your scene in 3D multiplane space, attach props to characters and lots of other useful starter tips!
Week 2 allows us to move on to crafting the scene into a more robust set up for the animation part of production. Using a demo project, we'll set up multiple shots and learn about positioning assets consistently, reusing animation, exporting elements to speed up your workflow and some simple compositing!
In the final stages of the course and with all the assets in place, we will learn some highly skilled, technical wizardry to take your sequence to the next level professionally. Things like adding smart shadows, depth, camera moves, water splashes and even some compositing comes into play. At the end you'll have built a world and a 6 shot sequence from scratch, ready for animation!
When you finish your project, you can send it to me for a professional critique. There will also be continued support in the form of the online Discord community, where your fellow students can share projects and continue your learning. I'm happy to help with career advice and showreel tips too 🎬

This 3 week course is PERFECT for those who are new to Toon Boom Harmony or looking to get their first animation studio role.
We assume no prior knowledge, so it's beginner friendly! And because we give you all the parts you need to build your scene, you can have fun just putting it all together. Just a computer required!
Toon Boom Harmony is a 2D animation package and so this course focuses on the popular 2D cut-out style. It is one of the most sought after skills to gain employment in an animation studio right now. This course teaches you how to work within a 2D cut-out studio in the role of Scene Build/Scene Setup/Scene Prep.
Any experience you do have is useful, including in other animation software, but is not required. The course has been made for those totally new to Toon Boom Harmony or with basic experience.
You'll learn how to use Toon Boom Harmony Premium to set up files ready for animating. This will include everything from importing animatics, sound and guides to placing the background and other assets around the stage. You'll find out how to import and adjust rigs to work within the shot, as well as do simple compositing and posing often required in this role.
This course runs for 3 weeks from the start date. This will allow you to use the Toon Boom Harmony Premium trial that is available FREE on Toon Boom's official website. After the course is over, you will still have access to the materials and community.
Although the live part of the course is 3 weeks long, you'll have access to the course videos and files for 1 year. This gives you plenty of time to study the software and come back to the library of videos for a quick review, if needed.

Ideally a minimum 3 hours a week, but this will depend on your previous experience with animation software or Toon Boom, if any. This is one of the simpler, easier to access courses so it is recommended for beginners.
