Frequently asked questions

Common questions…answered!

What do we do during the course?

We start each week with a live group call, where we'll cover some tips and advice for the next stage of your project.

We open it up to our small group so you can get other opinions and even more ideas, so you go away feeling motivated for the week ahead.

From there, you’ll work on your project in your own time during the week, with constant access to your tutor and group via a private Discord forum.

What do I need to take part?

A camera & microphone (or smart phone), an internet connection and an idea!

The animation method you use to make your film (or develop your storyboard or idea) doesn’t matter, as well be focused more on the key story aspects.

Do I need to animate a whole film in 4 weeks?

No! Wherever you’re up to with your animated project, we’ll fill you with some new tips and inspiration on how you might improve and adjust. Every project is different, so you’ll find out in week one exactly what that is for you.

Help! I can’t choose which idea to work on

That’s okay! In fact we'll go through the process of picking a concept and why in the first session.

I want to develop my showreel, is that okay?

Absolutely! I'll show you how to treat your showreel as a collection of mini projects, and tailor it for the role you want afterwards.

What if I can’t make some of the live sessions?

Each live session will be recorded and a summary of the discussion posted in the course. This way you can easily catch up.

How much time will I need to take part?

There’s only one hourly session a week, plus whatever else you’d like to spare. I recommend at least 2 hours extra, but it’s up to you.

Each week I’ll aim to give you a take away action, something to focus on for the coming week. It’s meant to be fun but of course, we aim to keep you accountable for progress too!

Do I receive a final review?

No matter where you're at when the course finishes, I'll provide a 'next steps' plan and feedback on your project. Animation isn't a speedy art form, but luckily you'll still have access to myself and rest of the group within the community, even if you're not finished.
